第33番札所 高福山 雪蹊寺

The 33rdd Kofukuzan Sekkeiji

ご本尊　薬師如来

ご利益　学問、眼病

ご真言　おん ころころ せんだり まとうぎ そわか

ご詠歌　旅の道 うえしも今は高福寺 のちのたのしみ 有明の月

明治時代に廃寺になったが、和尚たちにより再建された。

四国八十八ヶ所霊場のうち2ヶ寺しかない臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院。

This temple closed in Meiji period(1868-1912), but reopened. This is only two Rinzai school temples in Shikoku 88 temples.
 

通夜堂

山本玄峰は失明に近い眼病を患い、その回復を祈願して、裸足で7回目の遍路旅の時に、途中、当寺の通夜堂に止まっている時に、先代の住職に救われる。「心眼を開け」と言われて悟った。

その後、当寺の住職になった。

Genpou Yamamoto had eye disease and about to lose his eye sight. He stayed this Tuyado during his 7 times Henro with barefoot to pray recovery, the chief priest helped him. The priest told him to open the mind and he attained enlightenment. Later he became a chief priest in this temple.

本尊薬師如来

国重要文化財である、本尊薬師如来、脇侍仏日光月光菩薩、運慶作毘沙門天、吉祥天、善膩師童子は、運慶の子、湛慶作。運慶と湛慶が雪蹊寺に泊まっていた時に作ったと言われる。

This main deity is Natural Cultural properties.

It was made by Tankei, he is son of Unkei, famous sculputor.

When they staied at Sekkeiji, they made those statues.
