第25番札所 宝珠山 真言院 津照寺

The 25th Houzyuzan Shingonin Shinsyoji

ご本尊　地蔵菩薩　

ご利益　五穀豊穣 政教一致 商売繁盛

ご真言　おん かかかび さんまえい そわか

ご詠歌　法の船 入るか出るかこの津寺 迷う我が身を のせてたまえや

津寺とも呼ばれている。

本堂までの125段の急勾配な石坂を登ると、室津港と太平洋が一望できる。途中には、朱塗りの鐘楼門たたずむ。

This temple also called “Tsudera”. After climb up 125 steps until main hall, you can see port of Murozu, and Pacific Ocean. On the way to the main hall, you can see vermilion gate.

舵取り地蔵

土佐藩主が室戸沖で暴風雨に遭ったとき、一人の僧が現れて船の楫をとり無事に室津の港に着けて立ち去った。衣から落ちた水滴は寺の本堂の中まで続いており、見れば本尊の衣が潮で濡れていた。本尊の地蔵菩薩が僧に姿を変えて船を救ったことを悟った。

この寺伝より、舵取り地蔵と呼ぶようになり、今もなお、漁師、船乗りの篤い信仰を受けている。

When Tosa Federal lord encountered rain storm at Muro off coast, one priest showed up and took the ship to port of Murozu and then he left. Drop of water from cloth continued to the main hall, and cloth of main deity was wet. It means main deity changed to the priest to help the ship. Form this story, it called “KajitoriJizo”. Nowadays people especially fisherman and sailor believe it to be a protective god for safety on water.
