遍路は、ここで装束を整え、不殺生、不倫盗、不妄語、不邪淫など十善戒を授けられて、遍路の旅へ立つ。
要予約の出立前受戒を受ける事ができる。

弘法大師が大日如来の胎蔵界四重円壇のマンダラ道場を求めて、四国の東北から右回りに八十八の煩悩の数にちなんで霊場を開設しようとしたときに、空中に光明輝く諸仏を感得された。
釈迦如来がインドの霊鷲山で行なう説法の場に似ていると感じ、日本にそのインドの霊山を移す意味で竺和山霊山寺と名付けた。
持仏の釈迦誕生仏を収め、八十八カ所霊場第一番と定めた。

多宝塔
五智如来が祀られている。
大日如来の知恵を５つに分けてあらわしたもの。
大日如来を中心に、四方に四体の如来を安置している。
Pagoda
It houses Five Dhyani Buddha.
It indicates divided into 5wisdom of Dainichi Nyorai. Four body of Nyorai placed centered on Dainichi Nyorai.
縁結び観音
観世音菩薩は、夜の人々のあらゆる希望を観じている。
男女の縁、幸せの縁、健康の縁、希望校への入学の縁など紙に書き結び、水を供えてお参りすると功徳が得られる。
Kanzenonbosatsu think and hope people's wishes.
You will be blessed writing your wishes Finding marriage partners, happiness, health, success with exam ... down on the paper along with offering water.
